Project developed as a partnership between researchers from LabEEE and INPE for the development of future weather files for the 26 Brazilian state capitals plus the Federal District. With this project, it is expected to increase the availability of future weather files using more updated and computationally intensive methods to represent climate change across the national territory.

Currently, the assessment of thermal comfort in indoor environments is mainly carried out according to the American standard ASHRAE 55 (last revision published in 2017), which deals solely with environmental thermal conditions for human occupancy (ASHRAE 55 - Thermal environmental conditions for human occupancy).

GIZ, in partnership with the National Housing Secretariat (SNH) of the Ministry of Regional Development (MDR), is developing a technical cooperation project entitled “Energy Efficiency in Sustainable Urban Development, Focus: Social Housing” (EEDUS), which has the objective of improving energy efficiency (EE) in housing units (UH) of social interest in Brazil, mainly in the Minha Casa Minha

Responding to the growing demand from the public sector to increase its resource efficiency, the Efficient Cities Project was proposed, which is implemented by CBCS – Brazilian Council for Sustainable Construction – and financed by Instituto Clima e Sociedade, ICS.

This work is based on the partnership between UFSC and Saint Gobain, offering students a training path through Research, under the responsibility of higher education establishments based on Research activities presenting a common interest to the parties.

Analyzing the literature, there is not just one satisfactory definition of Building Information Modelling(BIM), but rather a series of different definitions that end up converging on the idea of ​​a digital representation of the building (MIETTINEN; PAAVOLA, 2014).

The behavior of occupants in buildings has significant impacts on energy use and environmental quality. Although it is crucial to the design and operation of low-energy buildings, it is often underestimated. Occupant behavior is complex, and research in the area requires a multidisciplinary basis to achieve the necessary depth in this area. The Annex 66 project aimed to standardize the definition of this behavior and develop a quantitative simulation methodology to understand its impact on energy use and the internal environment of buildings.

Annex 69 addressed studies on thermal comfort in the built environment, aiming both to advance knowledge in the area, in methodological terms, and to improve the dissemination of knowledge obtained, through public databases. More information about Annex 69 can be found by clicking here.

As buildings become more efficient, occupant behavior has an increasing impact on energy consumption. Additionally, changes in work dynamics and comfort expectations are transforming building occupancy. In recent years, there has been a significant increase in interest in occupant behavior modeling, driven by the IEA EBC Annex 66 project, which focused on understanding occupant behavior in buildings and how they were considered in the design process.

Annex 80 aimed to develop and study resilient cooling solutions, with low carbon emissions and low energy demand, in order to mitigate the overheating of buildings in extreme situations.
