The application of the benchmarking process in buildings makes it possible to carry out a simplified energy diagnosis, using physical and surrounding characteristics, equipment, systems and actual energy consumption. In this way, the interpretation of all this information makes it possible to study the most appropriate energy efficiency measures for each situation.
Energy benchmarks aim to make it possible to carry out performance assessments of buildings nationally, enabling comparison with typical consumption in the national market, and thus identifying their potential for improvements, prioritizing the scope for renovations and rewarding good performance.
LabEEE develops research related to obtaining energy benchmarks for buildings, considering the climatic, local and social aspects of the building context.
Between 2018 and 2021, LabEEE acted as a partner with the Brazilian Council for Sustainable Construction (CBCS) and Eletrobrás in the Operational Energy Performance (DEO) project, carried out within the scope of the National Electric Energy Conservation Program – PROCEL. In this project, LabEEE provided the necessary academic and scientific support for the development of energy consumption benchmarks for buildings for 15 typologies.
