- Occupant behavior in buildings has significant impacts on energy use and environmental quality. Although it is crucial for the design and operation of low-energy buildings, it is often underestimated. Occupant behavior is complex, and research in the area requires a multidisciplinary foundation to achieve the necessary depth. The Annex 66 project aimed to standardize the definition of this behavior and to develop a quantitative simulation methodology to understand its impact on energy use and the indoor environment of buildings.
