Building Labeling (PBE Edifica)

The Brazilian National Building Labeling Scheme (PBE Edifica) was born from the mutual cooperation between Eletrobras/Procel, Inmetro and the Brazilian academy, notably the Federal University of Santa Catarina, which, through Laboratory of Energy Efficiency in Buildings (LabEEE/ UFSC), coordinated the development of the technical and methodological part. This process took place based on agreements signed with Eletrobras within the scope of the National Electricity Conservation Program - PROCEL Edifica.

Continuing the development of the Brazilian building labeling process, LabEEE/UFSC presented a proposal for a Work Plan to Eletrobras/Procel that culminated in the creation of the Brazilian Center for Energy Efficiency in Buildings – CB3E. This Center is fundamental and strategic to assist Eletrobras/Procel in the implementation, monitoring and service with quality to the Building Labeling Program, providing technical and scientific support adequate to the labeling, working on its continuous improvement, and in the quality control and assessment of processes and inspection bodies accredited by Inmetro and throughout Brazil.

With the approval of the work plan based on the ECV Agreement DTP 001_2012, the embryonic nucleus of the CB3E began, together with the electronic page that includes the content of this Reference Center.
